Swalesi Basslet

just wondering if anyone else has one of these in their tank. I waited a few months to finally get one.

I've got one. Very pretty and very cryptic. Mine finally comes out into the open during the morning and evening feedings but does not come out during the midday feeding when all the lights are on. Even when it's not out I do see it moving under the rock work and corals.

Mine is a very healthy specimen, a nice size too. He has only been in my tank for about 3 days so he still isn't coming out at all. He moves around under my rock work, and becomes very active when i feed. He has been getting picked on some by my tang, which is one reason i believe he hasn't come out from the rock. The first day i had him, he stayed in plain view the whole day around the edges of the tank. The wholesaler he came from said he was out in the open in their system. I'm gonna give him some time.

I have had a pair which was almost never to see .. the genus Liopropoma is living very secretive and we should not expect them to be out in the full light.

I keep still L.rubre and L.carmabi and must say that the carmbi is the most to see.

Make sure that you feed mysis. All mine definately perefered that. At the beginning they did only feed from the ground and later they also pick up food in the open water. They are rather slow eaters.

BTW, I am very sure that you have a female

This is my female:

Jay,

you have to see different fish to determine it. All my femals are much bigger and rounder where as the males are rather slim and also smaller in lenght.

Maybe the pics help to ilsutrate what I mean:

Female rubre:

male carmabi

I'd post a pic of mine, but I rarely see him-just a glimpse once in a while of him scooting between the rocks.
