Great enthusiasm Dave! Any chance for this Sunday for a preliminary meeting at the zoo. Though that is short notice. Chime in everyone that is interested and propose a meet day/time.

So are we on for Saturday at 10? Also if folks could bring test kits. And if anyone has a TDS meter. I'd love to try and figure out the sps puzzle. Finally, if anyone can spare any algae grazers for a while to knock back some green hair algae. I will bring in some turbos and I'll soon order some lettuce nudis (if anyone wants to piggy back I'll soon post a thread). The sea hares Vince and i ordered were gone within days.

Jerry,

I have a fox face that will knock down the algae like mower, I will donate him if you want him. He has done his job in my tank. I may be available for Saturday if you need more help....SeaHorses used to be my thing years ago.

I have had a few lettuce nudi's in the past and everytime I tryed one it was gone soon as it hit the tank. Never saw them again. They are a waste of money IMO.

My foxface is mowing my algae down quick. Thing is do not put sheet algae in. I did this and it stopped eating the other for about two days.

Your more than welcome, so I will try and catch the wascally wabbit fish Friday night and try to buff up on my Seahorse knowledge. Just out of curiosity...how big of a SH display are we looking at?

I was thinking perhaps a 45 gallon with a tall configuration. We have limited space where the tank will be situated. It may also require its own small sump due to temperature considerations.

I guess it all depends on the amount of space. My 2cents, this set up needs to have its own filtration, such as a 20 or 30 gal sump with a fuge. A skimmer, a heater and lights. I'm guessing a 30-40 gal display would be pretty easy. Lighting could be fairly simple, depending on the tank size, Pc's or some t-5s will be plenty. The skimmer can be a simple and inexpensive kind, but needs to be consistent. A 100watt heater will perfect, as the temp will need to stay in the low 70's. I was also thinking we could do the background with the pond foam to create some nice caves and ledges for things like Ric's, shrooms, kenya tree's....things that don't sting. As far as water movement, the return pump would most likely be enough, but depending on the tank size we may want to add 1 power head (maxijet -400). The maxi mods would not be a good choice, due to the openings, a SH my get his tail inside and that would not be pretty Anyway I guess we can discuss this more on Saturday..........

Geo

P.S......40 gal tank could hold six adult SH with no problems.

One last thing, a cube tank would be my personal choice for a display, you could pile live rock up high and allow macro's to grow with occasional pruning.

In time I will have my 37 tall, Rena Filstar (P1) canister filter, CPR Backpack skimmer, Heater and 2 x 55W PC lighting available... but it might be a while before I get the 120 up and running.
