whats this white stuff on my frag??
it'll show up on a couple of frags of zoas. Ill see it inbetween the zoas at their base. It will usually cause the frag to fall apart in a couple of days. What the hell is it?

well theres no way i can get a descent pic of it. its almost like it would be a fungus or something. I can blow it off of the frags but within a few days the polyps will either be seperated from where they are glued to the frag mount or theyll die.

is it 'sponge' like? I've seen something similiar to what your describing that when allowed to grow out, was definately a sponge. Pull the frags out of the water and scrape away as much of it as you can. Most sponges can not tolerate direct air contact.

Never had any success gluing zoas to rocks. I'd imagine what you're seeing is a fungal infection from the cut. When fragging zoas It's best to leave the whole polyp in tact and just scrape the base away from the rock and then glue the rock to the rock, not the coral to the rock.
Make any sense?

what glue are you using to glue your frags to their mount?

When I used glue to get zpas on rock i had this same phenomenon (sp), I think it is just the glue melting the zoa's.

This usually happens when the water gets to hot or to cold, or if the coral was transhipped dry.
HTH -Matthew ps. check for any of the zoanthid pests a few times a day with a magnifying glass to make sure. |

The" fungus "is probably the residue the zoanthids excrete when they're dead or dieing, so it's not that film that's the problem, but like the other guy said, a temperature or some other kind of issue. it could be from fragging or glueing it improperly.
