What in your reef had you had the longest that your proud of?
As far as longevity I was curious what has survived the longest that you are so proud you kept alive. For me even though I have a full blown reef for over 10 years it is my Hippo tang who is 9 years old. I find that pretty awesome. What about you!!! It could be anything in your reef

I'm most proud of my candy cane even though I've only had it a year and a few months. It quadrupled in size, then fragged itself. I've given frags away and am nearly ready to give more.
I have had other corals longer, but they aren't as nice looking or as fast growing.

Yeah I have had candy canes for ever but they are very slow to split. I don't feed much but their tentacles are always out at night. Mine love the high light.

I'm the most proud of my rose anemone and maroon clown. I've had them for almost 3 years. The anemone has split 3-4 times and won't stop growing.

livestock: pearly jawfish. had him about 2 years. great personality. when the lights go out he moves shells to cover his entrance. he stays inside his burrow all night. when the lights come on, he removes the shells and comes out to spend the day outside
coral: lime green table acro. about 3 years old. it was sold to me as a bottle brush, but 3 years later it is about 14" diameter and bright green |

My rusty angel was my first fish 3 years ago and is still kicking. Has watched quite a few of his buddies bite the dust but he chugs on like a real trooper. Watched him go from little peanut to a pretty good sized dwarf. He tends to cause quite a ruckis in the tank but I wouldn't trade him for nothing.

The euphyllia in my avatar, one of my first corals 9 years ago. When I relocated to Fl I shipped the mother colony to friend in Tampa. After a year without a tank I still have a clone from my first tank.

Candy Cane and a purple tang. Bought them on the same day eight years ago.
I have no idea how many frags have come from the CC and the tang is the nicest fish I have ever had. I once housed a yellow tang and a bicolor angel with him for a month while a friend moved and not one issue. I am so proud of my little ones! |

These are really nice stories everyone, It is amazing to realize that some of our fish are living possibly as long as a dogs life, not quite but maybe. If my hippo ever past away my wife would really take it hard. It has become part of the family.
