The Metal Frame was custom build for me my Miracles (Canada) to include the light stand. I just framed it.

Now that things have settled down after to move I decided it was time to make my reef more reef like! I picked up a bunch of pieces from a fellow reefer tht has been helping me along the way. New to my reef are:

Green Staghorn

Purple Montipora Digitata

Blue/Green Candy Cane

Orange Green Zoos

I also have a very small Acro. Prostrata that I haven't mounted yet so I can't get a good photo.

And here is my most recent FTS.

Lastly, I also picked up some Prodibo. I jsut started dosing with BioClean and will be treating with Reef Booster once the BioClean has done its job. I am fighting a minor algae issue that has me cleaning my glass a few times aday so I hope this will help. I will try to get some progression photos once things start to work.

Cheers!

Re: MY FIRST REEF - 90g Starphire Build Log

When I first read the thread title, I was like "Is he insane?? Or just insanely rich? A 90G starfire as his first reef??"

Then I read this:

Ha ha, I think insane is a bit closer than rich! I'm not a practicing Marine Biologist living in Toronto; you can't even swim in the water here )-;

By rich meaning I like to max my CC on something I didn't think would cost quite this much, then ya maybe. I did try to go high end for many things though.....I always prefer to pay for quality the first time around.

Thanks! It was no small task to figure out how to design my stand, but I do like how it turned out in the end.

Here is another little update.

I have been dosing Prodibio BioClean for 2 weeks now and have just added my second dose. This stuff really works, algae growth is way down and water is very clear.

before:

After 2 weeks:

I also added a nice piece of red blastomussa and an elegance coral I picked up this week. My fingers are crossed with the elegance since I know they are pretty impossible to keep over the last 10 years or so. I guess we will wait and see, but I thought I would give it a try. I went in for fish but locals did a pretty good job of cleaning them out over the weekend....on Wednesday there wasn't much left and I had to go home with something.

i do have to agree. chromies are a great fish for most tanks. they are always out and about swimming and chasing each other. good action fish. mine would always go into other fishes " turf " and get the clowns chasing them around etc etc. they create alot of action...

everything looks good. good luck with the elegance,

Ya I like my Chromis...down to 3 now as I lost one in my move. I guess they dwindle as the contiune to pick the weaker ones off, but I am yet to experience any activity like this. They do peeve the clowns a bit though, always good fun to watch!
