I'd say that covers Zep. You want to compair "solo" careers?

I was at this concert in LA. Listen to clapton and beck at the end of the traditional solo, they shred page and they were holding back.

Clapton and Beck can pull off Yee-haa, page......

Don't get me wrong, I like page, especially his blues playing like this but notice when he starts to play beyond his ability. He gets sloppy when he tries to play fast.

I dont know, I am still not sold, never will be.
I guess that creativity goes a long way with me.
Yeah, Cream and Derek and etc., were great, but I would put Led up against them anyday of the week.

Beck is truly amazing. He has been able to transcend musical genres like no one else.

Who ever mentioned Brian May was right on. He was/is a bad mofro.

I also second the Mark Knofler vote. Knofler is a freakin guitar genius, even if his style isnt for everyone.

And if Flea is allowed then Les Claypool is on it!
Les Claypool rocks! I loved Primus.

My vote goes to Bobby and Jerry, of course!

But, of the list so far, only one played with half a thumb missing.

Coming from someone who's brother in law just happens to be one of the aforementioned.

I've gotta say I agree though. Man I miss seeing these two guys together.

So many roads to ease my soul....

EVH. Have you heard eruption? Incredible! According to Eddie one of his biggest accomplishment was having his guitar hung next to Jimmy's in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Randy Roads. What can you say? Freakin amazing!
Gary Rossington and Allen Collins of Lynard Skinard. Maybe it's because I'm from Florida, but the live version of free bird is my all time favorite guitar jam.
The list of greats goes on from there. After Jimmy and Eddie, its hard for me to put them in order. I can listen to Old Slow Hands and think, he's the man. Then listen to Santana and think, How did he do that. Frampton is sooo under rated.

BB King once said that Peter Green had more talent in his little finger than he had in his whole body, that's coming from the KING himself. Clapton is awesome, but Peter has more soul and feeling in his playing, and was a wayyyyy better blues player. If you don't know his stuff you should look it up. He formed the REAL Fleetwood Mac, was only with them from 68-70 before acid ruined his life.

Whomever ou feelis in the top 10 - Jimi, Eric, Stevie Ray, Jimmy, Eddie, etc. - there are some extremely talented pickers listed here.

On my drive today from Pit to Buffalo I listened to some SRV Live at Carnegie Hall, man SRV can play. Queen I - Brian May just kickin em out and Jonny Lang. OK Jonny Lang doesn't fall into the guitar skills as those listed, but that boy can sing.

Thanks for everyone sharing - everybody has their own preference.
