It says on the box for 1100's or higher. I already have the 820's and don't want to invest in 2 1100's plus the controller. Might as well buy tunze.

Does it ramp down at night? Is that a setting, or automatic?

mwood - "Does anyone know what would happen if the controller were hooked to 820's rather than 1100's?"

It's my guess that if you were to plug in anything but the manufacturer's suggested models, the effect would be similar to what would happen if Marty McFly were to have seen himself in "Back to the Future". THAT should be avoided from what "Doc" had to say about it... and I trust what he says...

all it does is that it can ramp them up or down for 15 seconds to 30 minutes like 15 seconds it will run at 50%, then 15 seconds for 15secs and so forth, there is no night setting

Got mine last night. So far pretty pleased. Instuctions are pretty much nonexistant so I just leave it the way it was from the factory at 15 seconds. I hit the auto button but that wouldnt let me enable feeding mode so I shut it off. Not sure what the differences is between the standard mode and auto.
The real reason I got it was to help with my slight heat issue. had been getting up to around 81.8 degrees with seios on 24/7. I was hoping with ramping them up and down it would help and so far it seems to help. On 15 sec intervals w/ MH on my tank didnt exceed 80.1 degrees all day!! So so far i have to say im pretty happy although I have never had a controller before. Only negative aspect is I thought the price was a little steep for what it does. I was hoping for night modes and allowing alternating powerhead control.

To adjust the system, you hit auto and the blue light should go off and the timer should come on then you set it to how long you want and then hit auto agian, and to turn feeding on hit auto off then press the feeding button then hit auto and the pumps should turn off.
hope that helps,
Mark

All set up.....I can hear the motors I think on the seios when they ramp up and down. A slight humming or change of pitch. Does anyone else notice this? Other than that I love it...creates some nice random flow. I am running the 1500's on it.

i gotta find a better place to mount mine. i can only reach one pump to it where it currently is mounted. i will have to try it tomorrow behind/above tank. other than that i think it works great. i have mine set at 15secs. I hear no hum. Of course my closed loop currently makes some noise so it may be drowning it. Something else i have to work on this weekend.

i read somewhere that they are only designed for SEIO's and that other pumps would get damaged by it. for maxi-streams you should get the new Aquamedic Wave controller.

No problem, its only one thats been asked about 50 times in this thread alone, and your question was discussed by several posters about 5-6 messages before your's.

Don't mean to be testy, however this seems to be happening more and more on RC. First people don't want to use the Search, or maybe pay for it, and now many don't even want to read the thread, they just want an answer now.

well look back a few posts and you will see that the person was asking about 820's not maxi's. also i do pay for the search feature and have been following the thread, i was just seeing if anyone has actually tried this with a maxijet, so if you havent then dont respond. i read back 2 pages and then decided to ask the ?. and i know it may have been asked 50 times but show me 50 times where it has been answered with first hand experience not speculations.

Has anyone who actually has the controller tried it on different pumps? All I've read is speculation based on advertising. Companies also tell me I have to use energizer batteries in my toys or they will explode.

Here is what I was told by The Man from TAAM. The controller senses the load from the pump as it is being ramped down. Using a pump with a different impedance can cause the controller to reset itself, could happen quickly, could happen slow. It could damage the pump (I am assuming his lawyer told him to say that due to liability issues) or the controller.

If someone tries this on a different pump I would let it run a few days before doing the reefmonkey victory dance of joy.

My one beef with the SEIO pumps and not the controller is the 2600 hanging options, you honstly have no choice but to use the suction cups!!!which of coarse detaches from the glass. With the 1500 I did not have that problem.

well i now have 2 100's hooked to it in my 125. so far its great. I have it set at 15 sec intervals. Tank will get semi-calm, then kinda violent during the 100% part of it.

Actually, all you asked was if the controller ramps them up or down. The thread right above yours said as much, as does Seio's literature:
