And this one HAS to be ghetto.
  Notice all of the metal hose clamps. I was too lazy to go to the hardware store (which is across the street) so I used some vinyl hose that was laying around. It had a bunch of kinks in it and should have been thrown away. I used the clamps to unkink the hose. Also notice the lengths of PVC used to hold the hose up so the skimmer doesn't fall forward. There are also a couple lengths of pvc under the skimmer. |

my ghetto canopy for my 180.
my buddy happened to be movin about the same time i was needing to build a canopy for my 180. to make a long story short, he had an old countertop (top of the canopy) and an old bed frame (sides) that were just the length i was looking for...enjoy!

I could post pics of my sump made out of two 10 gallon tanks. I was too lazy to drill them, so I connected the two with 5 redundant siphons (you might think that I think they're unreliable lol ). The first 10 gallon is used for a fuge and the second is used to house the return pump and the skimmer. The whole thing cost about $20, but it still looks nice, so I'm not sure it would count as ghetto

My refugium is pretty ghettofied. It is made from a 5 gallon Rubbermaid and powered by a powerhead. It was clear but I'm guessing algae ruined that (can't get it off).
Note the piece of glass placed over it with a 10 gal. tank light over that.   (these pics were a couple days after installation, so imagine it with cyno and other nice alga all over it) John *I also had to put silicone around the bulkhead to keep it from dripping* |

i dont think i need to take a picture of this one cuz the description will describe the whole thing... needed a ph probe holder for the controller to measure reactor effluent. guess what? another $1 milk container, not cut this time, with the ph probe in there and the effluent tube draining into it. works most awesome! yeah, it was another $1 but i drank the milk!  thanks for the 5 outta five!

My return for my fuge needed some extra support so I built a stand for it out of some spare PVC pipe and attached that to my CPR backpack. Also my returns for my closed loop were a bit to heavy so I zip tied those up to my now suported fuge return line. Ohh and then my Mag 7 had to sit 30" off of the ground so I used a 24" cardboard box, 2 tuperware containers, and then to finish it off drumrolllllll CD jewel cases !
If I can find functioning batteries I will get a picture of it. |

Here is my ghetto/college student lighting.
I bought the MH at a garage sale for $30 and teh cinder blocks were free from my boyfriends roomate (he finally got some real furnature.)

Haha, once I can find my USB chord, I'll have to take pics of my tank. Not that it's totally ghetto, there's only a few pieces of duct tape on it. However, I've had so many 'accidents' that the bottom of the stand is warped and so swollen that I can't close the doors.
