Great pics! I love these guys. I had a beautiful one for over a year, ate well, lived in a burrow system with a pistol shrimp, and then just faded away. Never saw him again. I have anther one now. Baby only an inch long. He has found and paired up with the same pistol shrimp. Hopefully he will do better than my first.

My wife lovingly named our's " sh*t head" because he was always picking on our red banded goby may he RIP.
his passing had nothing to do with the watchman it was a tank crash 3 months ago!

RIP " Smiley"

Cool goby. He's a chunky little guy.
I have one of those banded gobies and he's cool.

I wish my watchman would come out. All he does is hide all day long, then chase my purple firefish away from his little corner. Strange, because at night, the two of them share the little spot in the rocks together.
He just thinks he boss, but is really scared of everything. He tried to chase my new diamond goby down, but mr.goby is at least double the size of him and just spits sand back.

I have had mine for almost 5 years now, the whole time he has been paired with the same pistol shrimp (bought them the same day, and they have been best friends ever since). Very cool fish.

I have a question for those of you that have had Yellow watchman gobies. Mine has been canary yello for 5 years, and over the last two months his color has chaned to almost a pure white head with black lines or blothches throghout the back half of the body. It is not because he is sick because he still looks extremely healthy, and is still very active, and eats very well. I at first thought it might be some time of breeding change brought on perhaps because sometimes the temperature get's warmer in the tank over the summer months, but now that the temps have cooled back down, his color has not changed.

Anyone else experience this color change with their YWG?

I wonder if the color change is a sign of a very mature fish or maybe something lacking in it's diet!

I have an orange spot goby =) I just go thim a few days ago.
It's so cute watching him shift the sand.

I tried to feed him some scallops and flake food ground up by squirting some in the tank. I was hoping it would fall onto the substrate for him

not sure if that worked. =p

Orange spots (Diamond is usually the other name for them) are great gobies, and will sift the heck out of sand. Make sure you have a lid on that tank, my 1st one took a jump and landed several feet away from the tank. The new one tried to jump during acclimation and we've already found him in the overflow. We've only had him less than a month..

I bought glass tops, more to the fact the eggcrate looked tacky in my opinion. It was really depressing that after having him for 5+ months, he decided to jump. Sucked a lot, was really depressing. Try frozen mysis, I know everyone in my tank loves it.

Once the diamond goby gets acclimated will it stay away from the jumping suicide attempts? I am wanting to get one. My sand bed is starting to get bad. I have bought hundreds of hermit crabs over the years and my scopas tang and wrasse eat all of them.
