Well the system is hooked up...

The Triple ZERO TDS reading is after about 60 gallons of production... so much for the 25 gallon theory. Inbound TDS is between 140 and 45, it bounces around a bit, interesting that.

I also found some interesting reading about silicates in tap water, seems that they are not worth worrying about.

I'll let you all know how long it is before I have to do the first recharge. So far so good.

with input tds between 680 - 760, i ran around 300 gallons before my first recharge, actually, the product water was up to 19 tds by 300 gallons.
after i installed an RO, i have input tds between 5 - 6 and i get well over 6,000 gallons through the di.

I get about 2,000 gallons before a recharge out of the #10 set when using a 0.5 micron carbon block prefilter and incoming TDS around 200.

war daddy keep track of how much you get this first go-round and compare to what you get after regenning the resins once. I am just curiuos to see if there is a noticable drop in tds removal before needing to be regened

thanks for the update. I wonder at what gallon usage you will start to see 1tds?and.... will it reach that level again after the first regen?

I am now closing in on 1500 gallons, still trip zeros!

Best part is that I am running at a rate of around 40 gph, and still got CLEAN water out. Good system this!

I just ordered my Kati/Ani from germany. I currently have a 2600 gallon per day Ro and an tired of wasting so much water. I am going to start with one unit and see about maybe getting 1 or 2 more. I have done some cost sheets and I think it will cost about the same to a little less without wasting tons of water.

Redox,
If you can get the resins in bulk, any reason not to build one of these units vs buying one from Germany? Does the resin change color or can you simply use a commercial filter housing?
It seems I could build one pretty bulletproof for what the real units cost.
Or am I way off base here??
Thanks guys

Hey Chris yes that is very doable. You can buy bulk resins pretty cheap and get yourself two fiberglass mineral tanks followed by a tds meter and there you have it. I think you could make 2 setups for the cost of one of the german units and have way more capacity

Just remember, all resins are not created equal. There are resins out there that are not nearly as good as others. With resins, you get what you pay for.
