DIY Ca Blowout
Tested my DJ88 Calcium Reactor for about 2 weeks, clearing up some microbubbles and air getting in the system. Put a jug of ARM in it this weekend and tested that too, with the Co2 out at the pool.
Put the reactor in the house, on the tank, ran 3 minutes and blew out the whole side of the reactor, top to bottom......all over the carpet. I didn't hit the side of it, or stress it. Looking at the break, the welds all held. It split the sheet in half, on the seam, going around the welds. All I can think of is stress fractures in the acrylic from sawing??? I'm using a 10" 80 tooth carbide blade and then routed all my corners square afterwards. I used the HomeDepot .220" stock. This has me worried, I just bought a 72x36 sheet to start my sump. On the Rx I have now reglued the seam with Weldon #2, let that dry and filleted the corner with some #16. Did the same fillet with the other 3 corners. Pump was a Mag3, the ball valve was closed off a bit to slow the pump down, effluent was wide open. |

How did you feed water to it? any chance of pressure building sa from feeding directly from your return pump?

Nope, I was running a sipon from the tank and out to the sump. All I can think of is that I valved off the return to the reactor pump and thus built up pressure on the exit side. Didn't notice any bowing of the sides at any time.
