Phoenix 14K versus Ushio 14K

Another light question for all of you.

Which bulb do you guys recommend between these two:
Phoenix 14K
Ushio 14K

I know the Phoenix 14K bulbs are more on the blue side, and that people use them to eliminate (or minimize) the need to supplement actinic.
Looking for some feedback regarding the DE Ushio 14K's though. Good, bad, yes, now? How does the color from the Ushio compare next to the Phoenix?

TIA

So...are you making the jump to MH's Ant? Haha! You won't be disappointed! I personally have the Phoenix 14K's and love them although I've never seen a first hand comparison with the Ushio's. You've seen my tank though so you know what Phoenix's look like.

Phoenix 14k is my suggestion.

Ushio 14k is closer to a white color (as if white really was a color)

I've used both bulbs, and like the Phoenix's much, much better. The ushio was very flat bright white, no yellow or blue, but didn't really make anything stand out, and definitely would have needed supplementation. It was also visually much brighter than the phoenix, although IIRC, the PAR numbers weren't really that different.

Haha, no I am sticking with my HO T-5's
I have a good friend who is getting into the hobby and he wanted to know which bulb he should use. Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

The Ushio 14k is one of my favorite bulbs, appearance-wise. I appreciate it's full color representation, but I can see most wanting supplementation with it.

The color does seem to shift after 6 months, though.

Well you also ran it on an HQI ballast, so it was overdriven and that might explain the "premature" color shift.

It was my understanding that Ushio/BLV bulbs are intended for use with high current ballasts, so I was hoping to get at least 9 months. I guessed wrong
