All About Cycloseris

hey there all LPS fans. I have just finished the first of many coral profiles for my website and I wanted to ask this knowledgeable body of aquarists for 2 things.

http://coralite.net/cycloseris.html

1. This is the template for how I plan to profile many more corals at the generic and species level of detail. I have just a couple minor things I plan to change, like the captions for individual images. I am fishing for suggestions and comments on how to make the presentation better. I would also like criticism of the content for this group of corals in case I have left something out or if someone feels I am erroneous in some way please let me know.

2. I am recruiting other aquarists to do profiles of their favorite coral groups. I figure if I get others to do profiles of corals they know more about than the coral profiles will turn out more thorough and interesting. I have already asked some of the RC regulars to do some coral groups but I am still trying to find people to do the following groups. Blastomussa, trachyphyllia, scolymia, cynarina, euphyllia, plero and physogyra, lobophyllia and some others as I think of them. If you are interested in doing a coral profile, even one that isnt listed, please let me know.

Looking forward to hear what ya'll think.

Website looks awesome! Perhaps include the common names though. I didn't think I saw that. Oh, and how to pronounce the latin names.

Hey Jake,
The site looks great.

As for Cycloseris identification, one thing I've noticed is that Cyclo's have a ring of tiny polyps around the outer edge of the coral while Fungia do not. This makes is very easy to identify a healthy Cycloseris.

You can barely make them out in this C. tenuis

In this pic of a few of mine, you can really see the tentacles on the green Cyclo.

Cycloseris = smooth septa
Fungia = rough septa

I read that in Veron's book a long time ago, so now I'm wondering if it refers to the Fungia and Cycloseris genus as a whole, or a specific comparison of the species I was studying.

I will double check tomorrow.

"Fungia grow much larger than Cycloseris, may be elongate, may have septa with larger teeth, and may have costae with elongate spines. Unlike Cycloseris, Fungia usualy occurs in reef environments."

- JEN Veron
Corals of the World
Volume II, pg. 236

"may be", "may have", "usually"... I guess there is no such thing as a definite answer in identification.

Right price for Orange Cycloseris

A LFS has several orange cycloseris (he calls them orange fungia) that are about the size of a silver dollar and moderately dome shaped. He's asking $65 each. Is that within the range for this coral? It's difficult to find Orange for the tank so I'm thinking of paying the ransom!
