Is this ok???

My nitrates are still out of whack since doing a huge water change. I did have a coral beauty who probably died but cant find the corpse. Can I pull my live rock out of the water without killing the bacteria to see if I can find the coral beauty??? I was going to pull it out and as soon as I do put in a 5gallon bucket with fresh saltwater.

as long as it stays in the bucket then you should be fine, just try not to let the rock be out of the system for very long. I had to move my tank across town, had the rock in buckets, and they did perfectly fine
