New Acan Lord changing colors

I knew this Acan had a nice look to it, but never dreamed it would color up like this. Sorry I don't have a before picture but it was more orangish and alot paler. After 20k MH's and feedings once a week for a month....wow.

Same coral, different white balance. 20k AB DE MH only. Picture taken after I moved it for the picture. Will take another soon after it settles in.

Almost all of the pale looking Indo Acan lords that are coming in will color up. It might take a few months, but these corals will all color up. I have not seen an ugly lord that's been in captivity for at least a year.

You need to feed acans more meaty foods like cyclopeeze, mysis, brine, or seafood.
Phtyo's too small for them to consume.
Nice acan btw!

I only feed brine...but only cause it is easy for me...I really don't know what is best, it just works for me.

Nam sorry bro...forgot to show you the frag tank. When your tank is up we can get a polyp into your tank.

Does this mean they will not turn blue under 14 or 15K?

Not true at all IMO. The 20k's may make them look Blue when there not but it does not turn the coral Blue IMO/IME. I run 10k's on my tank and may switch over to 20k's since most of my Sticks
(SPS) are gone IMO 20k's are more deceiving via Pics. then in person.

If you put most SPS under 20K they will turn blue it is a proven fact, it can also happen with clams and LPS.

Then why are mine all brown? LOL j/k

Just out of curiousity, do you have any references to back this up? I'm not trying to be a jerk - I'd really like to read some more about it.

James, awesome acan. Show us some more!

The Acan posted at the top is truely a chameleon. Today I was looking at it and it had more of a Grey middle stripe and green showing up on the outer stripe. I just fed it last night and it may be because it is feeding that causes the morphing of color. This is my new favorite coral.
