compare the two.
Ok, if you were to have a yellow or purple tang, both starting out at the same size, what are max sizes? and which grows faster? Also, are there any others that stay relatively small. I know tangs like long tanks, I am just curious which are the smallest of the species, and how big a difference there is between a yellow and a purple. Thanks.

I would stick with a yellow tang for your 75 gallon. Purple tangs are alot more aggressive then yellow tangs. They both get around 6-7''. Grwoth rate is about the same.

I appreciate it. Are there any other ones that stay relatively small. Nothing against the yellow, but it's not my favorite, ya know.

A kole tang, or convict tang would also work in a 75 gallon. I have a kole tang in my 75 gallon and she loves it.

I think you can keep the purple in a 75g, although they are somewhat aggressive, more likely a bigger issue in the smaller tank. I have had one for about 3 years in a 90. It is plump but a long ways from 6-7". In time most of the tangs would outgrow all of our tanks.

Yellow tang grows to 8" and purple tang grows to 9". I dont think any of them is suitable for a 75gal tank but it is ofcourse your choise. They both grow very fast.
The smallest tang species is Ctenochaetus tominiensis aka tomini tang. Grows to 5-6" but your 75gal may still not be big enough for this fish.

Well, here is what I got. Actually, my wife got it for me. I am still in Iraq. He was drip acclimated for 3 hours, and then put in the tank. Seewead was available from the start, but he decided to eat flakes his first night. How does he look?

No bigger picture available right now. I will see if I can adjust that one a bit, and repost. I can't wait to get home next month and see him in person. But he is eating, so I guess thats the most important thing, right?
