treating melting frogspawn with iodine
A few heads of my frogspawn are disentigrating after a recent equipment failure. There is no brown jelly, but I received this treatment advice and am thinkig about trying it. What does everyone think?
"I took mine out, rinsed lightly in a bucket of tank water, slowly poured iodine (kents) over it, making sure to get all of it really good. Then rinsed again in the bucket of tank water (to rinse away the excess iodine) and then returned to the tank. It immediatley stopped dying, and is looking great now. I have another thread on here somewhere talking about this." |

What kind of equipment failure are you talking about?

I had a 4 head frogspawn that started going downhill...I was afraid to do an Iodine dip but when the first head completely melted, and the second was more than halfway gone, I took a deep breath, and did it. It save all the rest of the coral, including the half dead branch.
I did a Lugol's dip (instruction on the package) but I believe it was 40 drops of iodine to a gallon of saltwater. The dip was only for a few minutes. Good Luck!!! |
