Toadstool Question
I have a neon green toadstool leather. I have had it in my tank since the end of September with no issue.
Starting in December (early) it closed up and shed. It opened up for a couple of weeks and then closed up and shed again. It opened up and then a couple of *days* later closed up again. It is currently in the bottom of my tank and gets hit with a MaxiJet 1200 with a Hydor Flo attachement once per revolution (about 10sec). My tank is a 55g with T5 4x54w lighting. Is this normal behavior? |

I would redirect the maxijet some place else just to make sure. But it looks like its in the molting process. Leathers does that once in a while. Sometimes often. As long as it doesn't look like its melting with white mucus, it should be fine.

Agreed sounds normal - it should be firm to the touch. I recently transfered my reef to a new tank and the largest of my toadstools (that I've had for close to 2 years) stayed closed for nearly 3 weeks after the move. It's open now and looking as good as ever.
Good Luck. |

Thanks. It is just wierd that it was fine for several months and then started to close up and shed. I will keep an eye on it.
I have been told not to move it as they get irritated. True? |
