Time for corals?
I have a Oceanic 150g tall reef ready tank. I run VHO lighting, 980 watts. I use 2 GRI pumps rated at 1500 gph. One, circulates water from tank to a 55g sump, the other is a closed loop system. I use a ASM-3 skimmer. I have about 150 pounds of live rock and a 5 inch DSB.
My fish include: 1- Map Angel, 9 inches, very shy. 1- flame angel. 1- foxface. 1- yellow tang, 4-damsels, 1- maroon clown, with a LTA. I would like to add some corals. What type would you suggest ? Mushrooms, LPS, SPS, polyps? Where should they be placed? What should they be fed? Thank you in advance for any help.... |

Do you plan on keeping your angels cause they will nip and and eat at your corals.

The flame angel, as with most dwarf angels "should be" ok with corals - although there is a slight chance (1 in 10 I heard) that will nip at the polyps. I am not familiar with a nap angel, but if it is not a dwarf then you will have a compatabuility problem with corals as SilberBack27 already mentioned.

At 9 inches, the map angel will pose problems for sps corals; first from a grazing standpoint as others have noted, secondly with the the rest of your fish bioload, would probably cause nutrient problems that sps wouldn't tolerate. To look ahead a bit, the foxface, tang and clown will also grow significantly. Mushrooms, LPS, and zoa's are possibilities though. Just my 2bits.
