New Here

Hi everyone, I started this thread mainly to introduce myself here, I live up in Fredericksburg but I guess Richmond is the closest reef club to me.

I am in the process of planning for an upgrade from my 12g nano cube dx which I bought several months ago with live rock and a couple of polyps and mushrooms and a ton of algae from someone who had let his fish and CUC die and become disinterested. It currently does have a CUC, and the algae is mostly under control, thank goodness .

I may go with a 25 XH (24" wide, 20" deep) because I can get it cheap. But the lighting for that short of a tank may more than make up for the money saved on the tank, I am realizing! I wanted to go with T5s.

Anyways, I'll be around and asking questions and whatever tank I end up going with, you'll be seeing it.

Hey Tammy,

Nice to have you drop by. I'm kinda new here, but the others are full of knowledge and experience and they are a great group of people. Check out the post about the next meeting on Dec. 8th. From what I've read, it should be a great time and all of the returning members are really excited about it. Hopefully I will be able to make it by there too and finally meet some of these people. See ya around the forums.

Thanks everyone! As far as the DC Metro area club, I did look at their site, too. Richmond is a liiittle bit closer for me, though. Its kind of a bummer to be right in the middle.

There aren't a lot of good reef stores around here, either.

What am I saying? There are aren't any, but there is one pet store that kind of goes in and out of doing good with their fish so sometimes I go there and sometimes not.

Will maybe see some of you at the frag swap if I can make it but I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to.

Tammy, I don't know much about the DC area groups.
BUT IMHO, RRC is the best group around! There is a group from Blacksburg/roanoke that is great also.
Tidewater has a group.. But for some reason, they do not like Reef central as a forum

Thanks again everyone for the welcome!

Its good to know there are others here from Fredericksburg! I've lived here for a couple of years and I like it .

And yeah, I'll try to make it to the swap. I'm not sure, though. December is a crazy month. However, my birthday is in December. It gives me one more excuse to do something like that. We'll see. I do have a couple of things I could bring. Not sure if anyone is interested in halimeda but I have quite a bit of that right now. Also could bring a few button polyps.
