desjardinii Tang

Was thinking of getting one and was wondering how hardy and will it be able to handle a few days of being picked on by my yellow tang as he picks on anything that goes in the tank for a few days. Any thoughts would be appreceated.

You could try the mirror trick to help alleviate some aggression.

Beautiful fish, very hardy, and peaceful. If possible, try to get one bigger than your yellow tang.

They are pretty hardy, but I had one that was EXTREMELY aggressive. His body count included 2 clown triggers, 1 pinktail trigger, 1 six banded angelfish, and 1 volitan lionfish. The lion and the pinktail he just harassed to death but the others I actually saw get cut up by his spines.
I got rid of him so that I could add other fish to the tank. He was beautiful and about 7"long.

Two zebrasomas could mean war.The best way to of done it was add them similar in size and at the same time.Maybe you can hold the Yellow in QT for a week or two and then introduce both of them at the same time.I say 50/50 they will ever get along.

I had those two in together and they never bothered each other. The tank size is nice, so all that I would worry about is water quality and amount of food.

If the water quality is good and the yellow is well fed, then it won't see the salifin as competition and the battle will likley be small.

If you feed your fish sparingly to keep your reef water quality pristine, then the yellow tang could be very agressive to any new fish.

FWIW - they grow fast and can get quite the attitude when they grow. At 7-9", mine was a real meany at meal time. I have to move him out to a bigger home.
