I am really glad to see these photos as winners, I had a hard time deciding between these ones in particular.

Hey John ~

I took all those photos, so go ahead and send me all the prizes.

*Snicker*

Actually, I was wondering if you could give a count of how many votes each submission received.

Talking

Picture #31 is mine :-)
I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me!
I have this and many other pictures posted on my photopoint albums, but for some reason photopoint is not coming up right now :-(

All pictures were taken w/ a Nikon CoolPix 950
this particular one is just a macro w/ the normal lens, however some of the other pics use the wide angle.

If you like any of my pictures and would like to use them for personal or educational use, please let me know. If you would like to use them for commercial use, please let me know, as I do sell them as well.

The counts are in the poll thread where the voting was done.

Hi all,

Wow!!! I am so over the moon that so many of you voted for my pic of the Basket Star. Thankyou all very much! I am dead chuffed

I really enjoyed checking all the other hitchhikers out, it's just so cool what other people can find popping out from live rock etc. Goodies as well as baddies.

And just for a quick update..... It's been 5+ weeks now since I added the Sea Plume and discovered my little hitchhiking star. I am pleased to say that he's still with me and seems to be doing great. I feed him every night with a pipette, a sometimes frustrating procedure as the gorgonian sways about quite a bit in the current. Still I persevere till leg and food make contact

Finally thanks to JohnL for organising the contest. It's been great fun and I can't wait to see all the pictures submitted for the next contest

Happy Christmas.

Regards

It's a CONSPIRACY!

I DEMAND a recount!
My clown was the ultimate hitchhiker!!
Actually, if I didn't have my own to vote for, I would've vote for the darn star, too... hmph!
The fact that a Maroon Goldstripe Clown hitchhiked on a LR order of mine is worthy of commendation itself...
Anyway, congrats to all of you- and nice pics all around!

P.S. John, not sure if I did this correctly, but the forum where the pictures are posted, still won't allow me to reply to the individual thread. Could be I'm just not awake yet.

I didn't enter due to the location restrictions on the prize. Maybe we could come up with an idea that even folks up in Canada could participate in.
Good work everyone I really loved the tunicate photo altough all were a joy to look at.

Yes, even though 91% of our members are from the US, there are 4% from Canada, 1% from the United Kingdom and 1% from Australia. Future contests will ensure that all of our members qualify for the prizes.

Sorry about that. It was poor planning on my part.

Not hardly. I think you you did an awesome job! I don't believe I've seen a contest run any smoother. The International entries can only make a good thing even better, IMO.

Thanks John, for enabling us to see all these beautiful photos!
Sincerely,
Connie

Lori, I'm not John but I had the same handicap I just finally went back to the start page, where it lists all the forums, and then clicked on the Hitchhiker forum. It worked for me this time. I'll see if I can get the link...

Yes, that is the same link i posted above... was wondering where to go from there... my choices are a) the closed voting thread. b) the submission thread which only has a reply link (no visible submissions) and c) Nathans post of his anemone spawning (which btw... is very very cool )

Thanks for trying connie, you're a jewel
~lori

edit:
I found the proplem connie ... in my preferences i have it set up to show threads from the last ten days only... so I changed it to "from the beginning" (bottom right of screen) and wella... it's there. Thanks again for your help.
