Though I still think those can be gross looking things, they manage to turn around and be beautiful at the same time.

Awesome pics, I like how the colors fill the entire frame.

Rosseau, what about this one? is it gross enough?
the first three pictures were taken at the local LFs ... i bought the sun coral colony and it is now under the 20K HQI bulb.

this picture was taken a few minutes ago

i kinda like them a lot ... very mysterious

I never thought of Tubastraes the way you put it

Now you've corrupted another mind!

Nice photos, just wait till it expands its polyps and you will spend all day photographing this beauty.

Nice pics ,I used to have orange ones, purple ones and black ones and I kept mine fed well, but my water quality started going down hill so i got rid of them, but they are beautiful to watch.

i believe it will take a few days for them to open completely !
the last Tubastrea colony i had, that's back in my early reefing years, took almost two weeks to open on a daily base...
i'm gonna give this one a litte time

enjoy !

Very nice pictures. Like the lighting on the first three better though, most probably due to the blue cast from the 20K that makes them loose the smooth creamy light that's on the first three.
Can you please share which camera and lens did you use and if you're using flash with those or not.

Maroun,
as i already posted, the first three pictures were taken at the local LFS ... i did not use a flash and i did not have enough light available ... and those shots have a little noise ... but not too much ... and it adds some "texture" to them ...
the last three pictures were taken in my 70 liters micro reef under a 70W 20K bulb ... hence the "blue note... i did not use at all a flash ... from what i remember settings were something like: 400 iso - f3.5 and 1/30°sec

i personaly like this light touch of blue ...
thx for your nice comments!

Great pics! We have the shutter, iso, no flash and f/stop. But what lens/camera are you using?

Remember to feed feed feed and you'll have super healthy polyps to enjoy both day and night.
