Snowsurfer what a beautiful tank you have. I love the layout. Can you provide a little more detail about your tank like what the dimensions are and what type of lighting and equipment you're using, etc.

Also is that a large leather on the right or an anenome?

Thanks and God bless,
Bill

whaoo this is a very very beautiful tank! I don't know why, but it give me an impression of peace, although most of the time, reef tanks seems kind of oppresive, because of the loads of rocks and no room for the eyes to rest. Your's is not... Congratulations!! beautiful aquascaping!

Thanks for all the lovely comments. Yes the large coral on the right is a leather. Its was tiny when i bought it.

Here is my equipment as asked for

The tank is a 5x2x2 the front glass is Starfire. Corner Weir.
Circulation is from a Tunze 6060 and a small 600lph Ehiem. The ehiem is just to keep the surface water agitated.

Lighting is from a Giessman twin 250w halide, with built in actinics.

Filtration is from a 4 foot sump and a mineral mud/algea section. Then straight back into the tank via a newjet 3000.

Only other equipment is a phosphate reactor.

Calcium and alk are kept in check manually.

No skimmer and my lps seem to be loving it.

Even though im heavily stocked all my levels are good and my nitrate is staying below 10.

Have not set myself to any set water changes but when i do which are normally about 2 months apart i do around 100 liters.

Thanks for the update on equipment Snowsurfer. My 75 gallon is similar in setup. I don't use a skimmer, ca reactor, or any other special equipment and I must say my corals look better than they ever have. So do you snowboard? Just asking since your forum ID is Snowsurfer.

Thanks,
Bill

How did you get all the tangs to get along in that tank? I have 2 that have problems with each other. (yellow/powder brown). I did want 3 tangs in my tank lol.

Hi Bill, yes i snowboard. As much as i can with trying to mix it with my diving holidays. Absolutly love it.

t5Nitro The tangs are fine the only problems i have is sometimes the yellow and sailfin have a little fight never anything serious. Also the vlamingi and blue throat trigger also sometimes take a dilike to each other.

Im gonna thin my larger fish down soon anyway and get rid of 2 but cant decide which ones

Snowsurfer I know what you mean about snowboarding. I learned to do it well in one 8 hour day up at Lake Tahoe with my younger brother and I was hooked. I have strapped ski's on only once since. Of course having two little tikes keeps me from getting to the slopes but finally the oldest is ready to hit the slopes this year.

It seems that my hobbies tend to require lots of money in order to enjoy them. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Guess that is why I like them. No really I love you tank and you have me rethinking my next upgrade size.

Got any more photos to share?

Cheers!
Bill
