wow 27 pages of humor and laughs and me thinking of how i could logically set up my ten gallon sitting 5 feet away from me and puttin the peacock thats in a 3"x3" cube at the LFS in it

ohh how that would be sweet what would you say the total cost per month on food is for the awsome and amazing Tim?

thanks for the laughs and ponderences Tim (notice the capital??)

Sorry to let ya down gemini, but 10 gal is not near big enough to keep a peacock mantis long term. Maybe if it was 3 inches or under, but they do grow. As for feeding it, it's actually relatively cheap. You just buy fresh uncooked shrimp/squid from the grocery store. Live treats like snails/hermits are good (maybe once a week or two). You should soak the frozens in selcon once in a while too.

The minimum tank for a full grown peacock would be 25 gal. Big peacocks are capable of breaking glass so I would try to get a thick glass tank or just acrylic. As for a small mantis... depends how small we're talking. like I said, 10 gal for a max 3inch peacock.

If you really want to stay with the 10 gal, there are still other mantises that stay small. G. smithii is pretty sought after among us mantis lovers. N. wennerae is another good one. G ternatensis is kinda rare. G. viridis is a common one.

well the mantis is in about 3"x3" for the last 2 months so i think a 10 would be spacious for him
hes probably only like 2-2 1/2" maybe 3" but i would want a good home for him so would a ten be good enough for how long?

it would be a semi-temp set up so i could upgrade to a 29 later if needed

Tim,

Please tell DM that your loving fans are in dire need of an update. Kindly inform DM that if he does not tell us about all of your recent "dinner guests" that his fingers and toes will be next on the guest list.

Look at the last post of Densityman. It was roughly right after his last post about Tim. Maybe he got bored with this site, had a massive tank meltdown? In fact I'm kinda worriedabout him.....
