Want to replace my skimmer

Which Skimmer would you buy if starting over

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Berlin Turbo Skimmer on my 75 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump. Since I have a larger tank in the works and will need a better skimmer to keep up I am going to upgrade now. I will have a 210 gallon that I have not setup yet. I plan on using the 75 as a sump. With rock/sand and such I will have about 250 gallons. I am a fan of tangs so The skimmer will need to be good to keep up with them.

I see this trigger skimmer that looks neat and not bad for the price. Trigger Skimmer
Although it seems a little power needy because of the pump it will need.
Any coments on this skimmer?

Or in the same price range Asm G-3, Precision Marine Bullet -2,

A Couple people have mentioned Life Reef. VS2-24

So what would you do? What model would you use on a tang heavy tank.

I dont have permission from the boss to spend what a Deltec or BK would cost. But would like to get a very effective skimmer for the money.

Thanks Al

Well if youre going to spend that much for a reeflo or a atb, I would pay a little more and go with the bubbleking 200 deluxe or wait till the BK supermarins are out next week, But then youre paying more than ya want.
The ATI BM's are a good skimmer as well. It will keep that tank clean.
I owned DAS ex3 and a BM 250 I would not compare DAS ex3 to a ATI BM 250. It isnt even close in skimmate production.
My 250 blew it away. I ran them at the same time on my tank.

I will have to explain the need for a $500 skimmer/pump let alone 1100 for a Bk.

So what would you suggest sub $500

Thanks Al

Comments: Awsome Skimmer! Produces lots of foam. If you replace the 3/4 injector with a 1 inch injector and use a mag-18 this skimmer performs like an EV400. Strips my tank clean.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Remember that if you buy the AquaC, Trigger, or Lifereef you are going to need to purchase a good pump to power them as well. So take that into your cost calculations for those skimmers.

For your price range I would look at the appropriate sized MRC, Precision Marine, ATI bubble master or Aqua Medic 5000 shorties.

I keep going back to the AquaC skimmer. I asked some local guys and found 3 of the use the EV120. They all like the skimmer. There is a mod posted as a review on Marine Depots website.

Does anyone know if this mod works? I would have to buy the pump. This mod would allow me to buy the smaller model and get the larger performance. Besides the pump the only other difference seems to be the height of the unit (26" vs 32"which gives it a higher volume of foam. I see the input on both units is 3/4 inch so adding a 1" injector seems useless since you would have to reduce the plumbing to enter the skimmer.

Anyone have experience with this type of mod?
