Acro???

What's all the fighting about? What is ACRO? When exactly is the January meeting. ACRO or otherwise. I have not been able to make the last two and would like to attend one to see what it's all about.

If you don't know what all the fighting is about then it is probably better to stay out of it, lol. Actually, its not a bad idea to stay out of it even if you do know what the fighting is about.

ACRO is Arizona Coral Reef Organization (I think). They meet monthly at a brewery in North Tucson.

It is a non-profit organization that was created around September of last year.

The fighting is about the alienation of some members of the original Frag Swap group from ACRO.

So, we (a few of the alienated members) decided not to a part of ACRO and restarted our informal gatherings. Of course there are plenty of people that attend both events and are very happy to do so. . . it's nice to have choices.

The two polls posted in this forum tell the story.

Big Jay D, our next meet is on January 27th @ 2pm at the Thunder Canyon Brewery.

The fighting is about some peoples fears of being part of an organized club, that meet on dates that are predetermined, at a location that is guaranteed.

ACRO offers all this, we have a great time and where else can you talk about reefing, pick up some cool corals, and drink something other than a budweiser.

We hope to see you there.

Oh puleeze! I have no fear of the organization; I wellcomed it as did many of teh others. Don't speak for me. I was happy it formed and I encouraged and supported Jess to do it.

It was his conduct after the formation why I chose to no longer be a part of ACRO. As you may recall he also was speaking on my behalf to not get involved with an incident that I felt was unjust. I spoke to both parties and heard both sides, he did not but advocated that "there are two sides to every story" and only listened to one and chose to defend it and he asked all members of ACRO to not get involved.

Poor leadership, that is what this argument is about. Jess, the organizer, is banned from RC for the second time. The intentions to create a new forum for ACRO and have peolple support it, has also failed, that is why ACRO still advertises on RC.

Need more proof, look at the polls!!!

Again, I suggest that you guys improve your tactics for recruitment because more and more people are becoming alienated with your comments.

Scott first of all. Your personal problems with Jess should not make a difference if you attend ACRO meets or not, it surely doesn't justify you bashing ACRO.

Second of all Jess is not what ACRO is all about. ACRO is about OUR HOBBY!!

I don't recall picking up the latest book on the marine hobby, and reading about how Scott is mad at the world and decides to lay into a whole organization simply because he is upset with another member.

You need to let your problems with other members be something you handle privately. The whole board doesn't care!

Lastly RC is a community that I, as well as other members of ACRO are a part of. It is not in your words, "advertising".

With that said I just want to thank you Scott for turning yet another thread into a place for you to vent your problems.

Arizona-Sierra Vista/Tucson Reef Keepers

ACRO has it's own website which is not supported by R/C and it does not sponsor R/C. Lets close the thread and close any further Club Forum linking threads that are not Mod approved.
