I want to setup a small frag tank in my mech room so i can properly aquascape this thing.
I'd love to keep it barebottom and scatter the clams around with a bunch of bright ricordea on the bottom, I think that'd look good and I'll post pics again if/when that happens

yeah you should, it seems simple enough and you could use 2 or 3 of them to hang a larger fixture.

I am going to try and hang a 24" 4 bulb T5 the same way you hung your light but I want to see how you hung it behind the wall so I can get a better idea on how I need to do it

He doesn't have any drywall up in the mech room so he was able to use conduit clamps to clamp the 1/2 tubing to a 2X4 stud.

I'm sure he'll post pic's when wh finds time.

How high above the tank did you end up hanging the light? I have the same exact tank, only I'm using a 175 MH instead of 250. Can you reccomend a height above the tank for it?

I did about a 9" height, its pretty intense but no bleaching. I believe with clams you cant give them too much light

I feel like dipping my fingers in that tank, make a cross gesture and saying my amen.

ok I have a couple more pics from the back or the halide re-do project.
The first shows a closeup you can see the aluminum tube with the black light cord inside of it.
It passes through the sheetrock and simply is clamped down t a 2x4 that is nailed between the studs on the same wall the tank is mounted to.
I added a couple of the clamps under the tube towards the wall to sort of shim it up to make the pendant level.
[IMG][/IMG]

this next pic shows a little more of the whole backside, you can see the white 3/8" steel bracket down below and the rest of the plumbing for the nano.
Sorry its a mess back there i should have tidy'd it up a bit

Chris, this little setup still impresses me, glad to see it turned into such a popular thread! 21k views and still going strong! Thanks for letting me be a part of it. Any chance you plan on doing another tank in your basement? I'm getting the itch to get the nano idea we've been talking about done, but my basement's not ready for it yet...

Well we just got a check from Rachel's parents since they wrecked our one of our cars while they were here early Dec, but insurance covered most (had to shell out a grand for maintenance that was overdue) of the cost of another car... I'll have to see how far I can stretch their money, need carpet and custom banister for the stairs, wood floors for two rooms, travertine for the bathroom floor and shower walls, a sink, toilet, doors and trim still to do as well. Fingers are crossed that we can do it all for what we have left. Bad news is the BMW just went into the shop today also and I have no idea what that will cost me.

Dang that sux. BMW=Big Money Wagon so you better go get some vaseline, sorry buddy I feel for you.
If you do end up doing a crazy nano what ideas are you thinking of? An inwall or floater like mine? Or something really crazy?
Maybe an infloor? LOL that would be unique.

I'm thinking the XXXXXXXLong 120 idea. Can't really call it a Nano at 120 gallons but it could be sweet if I could just decide on what I would want to put in it.
