PVC Cement drying time?
I have to do some quick repair to my return plumbing and I will need to cement together a few pieces of pvc on my return plumbing. What is the absolute minimum drying time I can get away with before turing the water pump on and running water through the new piping?
BTW, it is 1" pipe and I need to glue 4 or 5 joints together, its on a 90 gallon tank with a 100 gallon rubbermaid sump. And, I'm in a pinch so I cannot let it sit overnight. |

Try doing as many joints as possible without mounting it in the main pipe wait 1/2 hour and rinse it well with hot water to remove most of the fumes, the connect the last two on the tank and wait another 1/2 hour, if possible vent the pipe during this time (again the fumes is the issue not the glue drying. When puting on service insure you have activated carbon in the tank.

Thanks jdieck, I should be able to do that fine. I can wait a good hour, I think, with no big problems.
"the 'rain or shine' green cement drys fast and holds strong" I never heard of that, is it supposed to be less toxic? |

dont know about less toxic but I used it for supply and drains in my house as well as all my aquarium plumbing. My 8 mo old daughter was born w/all the correct body parts in healthy condition and my tank inhabitants are happy.
.....I have seen no side-effects yet |
