Check out a months growth, for this piece.. It seems to change colour pretty quick depending on placement (unfortunetly it only seems to stay in one place for a couple weeks at a time..due to I dunno, just..because..haha..but I think i found a new home for it..hopefully it will take off there..) (also this coral has only been captive for 2 months)

So..

This photo is from March 19 (notice how the edges are still ruff and broken for when I first got it and fragged a piece for a friend..)

and this photo was taken today less then a month apart.. Check out how all the edges are showing new polyps and sighns of growth like how the tissue has healed over and is streching out.. I can't wait till this piece gets to a decent size (6"+) I have a feeling it's going to be a very quick grower

I got this one at a LFS here today....kind of different. Has navy blue inner eyes with a "dramsicle" orange outer eye then this weird blood red streaking around the eye. The body is a pinkish with occasional navy streaks and white interspersed in it.
Pretty awesome up close!

I can't wait for my little bitty alien eye to grow up like yours..I never get tired of seeing pics of that baby. A beautiful coral!

Doc
Hey Doc I took that with atinics.I had the lights out about a hour then put the atinics on to snap the pic.The alien eye dosen't have sweepers like the pink/blue.Good luck with yours,it should do fine they're pretty tough

Very nice piece Brahm!
OK Okie, I'll swing by your place w/ the wifey on the way home from Mustang's, and get a frag of that new blue one, while you show me where this magic fish-store is you're scoring all these mint corals from!

Peace,

Hey , hey Mac...What if the wifey starts having contractions while here?? Tell me you would not make me endure delivering another baby! The only babies I deliver now are the ones coming from the ocean to my tanks!
BTW...this last pink echino was from a different LFS altogether!
We have a new store that opened in Dec and the owner is a definite "coral head". Likes the exotics!
I also got a new one fresh out of the water...totally without any redeeming color at all....have let it start to color up but may take some time. I've never had one that fresh ....its fun watching it!
Anytime you're in the great state of Oklahoma...give a call!
Thanks guys (for the quick reply)

Doc

LOL! I have a feeling she'd prolly have the baby if I even broached the idea of a road trip to her, never mind some fish-geek I met on the internet delivering!

"No honey, it's fine, really we traded frags, he's got some sweet stuff. Really, it's fine, no, he's really a doctor, yes, everything will be allright, don't worry....."

How are the frags doing? I like to make big (about twice that size) frags of my echinos to ensure survival, I also try to get one mouth per frag (or more). They are super slimy too!

All of the frags are doing good, I would have liked to have made only 3 frags (ended up with 5) and for them to be larger. Once I started fragging, I found I couldn't control where it was breaking. The skeleton is really thick, but each frag has atleast one mouth on it.

I've had success double-fragging the Echinophyllia's. I take large frags from the colony, give them time to heal over, and then cut the frags in half once more. I find breaking up small frags off the colony difficult. But whacking off a few inches from one edge.. that's easier. Then just whack that piece in sections, after it's had a chance to heal over.

rob(jusreefin) here's the mother colony picture taken with a flash so the color is kinda washed out...you can get an idea of how amazingly blue this piece is though. the frag i gave to you came directly from this one.
