Strange winding tube thing
What the heck is this? It's on the bottom of my Loc-Line return plumbing. No direct light hits it.
I noticed some little white coiled "feather duster" look alikes, but those are real small, like 1/8th of an inch. They appeared rather suddenly a few days ago, but I just noticed this today. As you can see this thing is much longer. I looked but can't find a beginning or end to it.

I have three types of snails:
4 Margarita 5 Cerith 5 Nerite I wonder which kind they will be? Are they born w/ shells? My wife is so excited! What color should we paint the walls?

i let some hatch a few months ago. i had to let the walls of the tank go with out cleaning (dont do think its a pita to get them clean after) it took around 5 days for them to hatch . then i had hundreds of little white specs all over the glass.

Yup, Cerith eggs. Not many make it (they're quite tasty to tank inhabitants).
I recommend fuscia walls. |

I get these all the time in my tank. I read somewhere that ceriths were very difficult to breed in captivity. I always assumed that the eggs got eaten or never hatched and therefore believed this statement. Well, my 6-line wrasse jumped out about a month ago, and I am now realizing how much he kept in check in the tank. My bristle worm population has exploded, I am seeing pods again (they disappeared right after I had added the 6-line about a year ago), and the cerith snail eggs hatched. I have hundreds of the little buggers on my glass (I really only see them at night though). It will be interesting to see how many (if any) make it to adulthood, they are still very tiny at this point.
