Just wondering how you can tell they are really picasso clowns?

Not trying to steal your thunder but most of the clownfish I see look like the pair above. Some with straight lines and other with a little wiggle in them.

Thanks

They came FROM the pair that produces what ORA is selling as picasso's, but may not have enough markings to call them picassos. Still, they are nice looking.

That sums it up! It was either 49$ for these guys or 300$ a pair for the true picasso. Mine still have some real nice patterns that they wont sit still for the camera to get a good shot.

They don't show the Picasso's on their site. I'm guessing you have to call in?

I would say it would be a stretch to call those Picasso clowns but nonetheless beautiful pair and BTA.

Just because they are the offspring of a Picasso doesn't mean they are Picasso clowns. You do realize that true Picasso clowns are just mis markings and deformities?

These are indeed from the ORA pair. You can tell this by the small hook on the gill and small spot at the tail. However, their strip pattern are not complete, for this reason they are only $50 per fish. The ones with really nice markings go for over $300 per pair. They are still very nice. If you bleed them they may produce nice marking offsprings.

If you make them bleed they will die.

Ya the 300 a pair are probably the coolest clown out there in my own opinion of corse. But for what i spent im very happy Dont want to bleed them not enough blood for my liking.

CHARLIE, they're lookin' good to me! I almost went the way you did until my lfs called me to say he just got a pair in. BTW, I paid a lot less than what the "going rate" seems to be.

Basser - Are yours "True" as per your lfs? Just trying to get a feel for what they say a "true" Picasso is supposed to look like.
Thanks.

My dealer is an ORA dealer, and since these came from ORA, I'm assuming they are picassos. At least that is what my LFS told me. They have a separate display of tanks in their store for ORA livestock.

I called the Blue Ribbon Koi, and they told me they still had some of the offspring of the ORA pair of true picassos, but that they had already sold all of the true Picassos. At $50 a pair I'm guessing that Charlie and basser each got offspring, not true, which is fine by me because the pics posted in this thread are beautiful. They may not be creme de la creme, but they are gorgeous.
Can either of you put me in touch with your lfs, to see if they have any left?
Thanks!!
