As of a few days ago, they had 2 pair at House of Fins in Greenwich... $500 per pair I think but you should call... they were gorgeous!

Thanks susan-

I really can only take one as I already have a perc in the tank. I was thinking of going up there today althought 500.00 is a little steep. Thanks again!

ORA is currently the only one producing them. I was at a ORA tour yesterday and they told us that despite them shipping out between 5-8K clown fish PER WEEK, they have a 4 page waiting list of shops around the country that have asked for them. They also will limit the shipment to 2 per shop when they become available. Apparently this phenotype is so difficult to get that it is a matter of numbers (something like 1 in every 1000 clown even from the picasso clown parents!

Let me clarify...

Though ORA may ship out between 5-8K clowns per weeks, that is the total number of clowns, all species and variants. Not 5-8K Picassos.

The amount of fish produced from a Picasso pair that can be sold as Picasso is something like 1-2%.

Susan2626, if they are listed for $500/pair, then they are most likely "Snowflake" A. ocellaris and not "Picasso" A. percula.

No they were Picasso's I stopped by there yesterday. I even questioned them about the price being a little steep -since they are not a mated pair. They just recieved 4 and paired them up 2 per tank and they wouldn't split them. Oh well I guess I'll keep looking.
I realize that they are not easy to come by and that's why I was asking if anyone ever saw any for sale around here so I could put my name on a waiting list at the store. Thanks everyone for all your help!

Yes, that is what I meant. I should have been clearer!
