Smile Who makes the best Calcium Reactor???

Who makes the best Calcium Reactor??? Im going a 150 gal system and want to add one, I am looking for best build quality, performance, and most importantly ease in initial setup. Would it be Korallin, maybe GEO, PM, Knop, or any others I don't know of. Please advise and thanks in advance...

I've been very happy with my Deltec PF601 so far. Good service, reliable, and consistent.

Because they are simple devices. You're mixing CO2 & SW to dissolve media. It's a simple device & GEOs are simple to operate.

Again

GEO

150g = 6x12, rated to 300 & works just fine on a 150.

If you want to reduce maintenance. Consider a reverse flow reactor like the Geo, some of the Precision Marine, Deltec, H&S, or Schurhan. Personally I prefer the screw on lid of the H&S or Schurhan to the Thumb screws of other reactors. It makes it much easier to add media, which is the only maintenance to reverse flow reactors. That is important to me since I go through 15lbs of media every 3-4 months.

Here is a pic of my ATI reactor which unfortunately is no longer made. The are about to release a new reactor but it will have a lid with thumb screws.

ATI still makes those reactors buddy... you can get them through reefgeek. FWIW, the ELOS USA unit is nearly identical.

I wanted to add this though... IF by BEST, you mean the highest output and efficiency, then there is only one reactor out there that you need look into... Deltec fluidized. Deltecs have by far the highest dKH output of any reactor... many people I know only run them for 8-12 hours a day because their output is so high. Readings of 80dKH on up are not uncommon, while most other reactors eek out a mere 40.

Hail to the King baby!

GEO 6x18 IMO this is a simple and efficient device. BUILT like a tank and easy to service.

1. Schuran and Deltec
2. Elos (based on design and quality...could be up there with Schuran, but I've never used one)
3. Geo

JMO

Another good alternative to the ATI/Elos is the H&S mentioned before. They are sold at finsreef and sport the easy open lid. I have never found this to be a big deal though, since its not like im opening it every day or even every week.

it may be worth mentioning that our REA can be run either fluidized or gravitational. Does that ATI have two chambers or one? It's hard to tell from the picture.

the ati has one... its got a large bubble counter though (or a really small main chamber). BTW, Im sorry to have said that the ATI and Elos are nearly identical... the ELOS is the prettiest reactor ever.

I like the H&S also because it feeds itself insump if you want. One less thing I worry about or have to deal with plumbing wise.

I guess I am just going to have to take a look at the components I want and look into the details of a few of these....it sounds overwhelmingly like most prefer the simplisity of the Geos, but there are a few others that people keep bringing up as well. Outside of the thumbscrews on the Geos, is there anything else that another brand has to offer that would make it a nice feature over what the Geos have to offer?
