DIY Bending Heat Strip ?

Anyone have a link or know how to put together a DIY acrylic bending heat strip. I know about the $35 heat strip from Tap Plastics but I wanted to make sure there wasn't any alternatives.

Nichrome wire from a toaster.

You can also use stainless steel wire. It works just as good as nichrome you just have to give it a different voltage. It does stretch a little more, but it will last much longer.
