:/

Wow, thats big. Are you sure its one of the tentacles?

I had a frogspawn do something similiar. Is the bubble near its mouth? When my frogspawn was splitting its mouth bubbled over like that , not nearly as big, but I thought maybe something was wrong with it. After some days it settled down and another mouth was there.

One of my hammers is like that (only my branching one). It's been that way for at least a couple of months (I don't think its a tenticle but its the mouth area inside out). It doesn't seem to be causing any problems but I have been neglecting my tank recently. I'm hoping a series of water changes and other tank upkeep things I'm going to do this week help out. If not, well, mines certainly not dying (its starting to grow a few new heads).

Go figure.

it almost makes me want to pop it just to see what happens.

I think i'd rather wait it out to see what happens. Its not doing any harm (that i can tell) right now, and cutting it off could.

It is called polyp extrusion. You can do a search for that term and come up with a couple of guesses as to why your coral is doing that. If I were you, I would pay particular attention to the opinion of Eric Borneman and Anthony Calfo (although their opinions differ). That should help limit the search.

I had a closer look this morning, it looks like the head is splitting where the bubble is. I tired doing a search for polyp extrusion, to many searchs . I might have to submit my $24....

the coral is splitting, trust me on this, i have frogspawns and hammers that do this on a regular basis. They have even stayed like this for months, a good sign either way....

I had a small froggie that recently bubbled up exactly as this one did. It was only one head at first and had split into two heads after the bubble went away.
