Amanda
It seems to be recovering slowly and getting back some of it's lost flesh and it may be getting it's color back, it is still hard to tell. I am just going to leave it back there for a while until it recover's fully which I hope it does.

Jordan, my brain use to expand out and just look awsome with some great color to it, but it is not doing well right now and is in back recovering. I hope for it to recover 100% over time and not go the other way, it was a beautiful Red Open Brain at one time.

rjwilson37, what happened to your red brain? Man I love that coral you had, very jealous about it. Have been searching for it & can't seem to find it anywhere.

If anyone comes across it online, please PM me.

Hope it gets better.

The Red Brain kinda went down hill over a period of a month or two some time ago, it just did not like it up front there anymore. I moved it to the back right and it seems to be doing better, but only time will tell.

Do you think it might be the T5's? My metallic green brain does not seem to like the light. It was worst in my 55g, where height was 20", now it's in my 90g (24"). It's always been at the very bottom, & towards the front. The actinics are the closest direct hit.

I know that my Green Brain on the left side did not like the switchover from PC's to T5's and bleached out pretty good. He was then moved to the bottom front and improved over time and is doing well now. The Red Brain has pretty much been under T5's for the life of my tank(s) that I have had him, so I don't think it was the lighting. Sometimes there is no explanation as to why a coral dies off and goes down hill, or the explanation is not within our grasp to figure out why. There can be many reason's and all we can do is move forward and do the best we can for it and hope it recover's.

Amanda I have a few questions really quick. In chamber one with the live rock rubble, how far up did you fill it? I know you said it was about 3.5 lbs. Just curious how far up the chamber that filled it.

Also with the micro filter you said you run that 24/7. How often did you change the carbon? Also you said you use kent, do you use any media bag or was there a certain one that fits in there?

Thanks again your tank looks great.

Spiffy, nice to see you back!! I filled the first chamber right to the top, maybe an inch below. I actually have 4.5 pounds of live rock rubble in that first chamber.

I run the micro 24/7. I change the water and the filter once a week. I buy the replacement micro filters by the bulk. It comes 10 per box that you have to put together, and there comes 10 separate bags of carbon. I don't use their carbon but instead fill the replacement filter with Kent's reef carbon. I can't wait until that skimmer comes out, I should shoot them another e-mail! Thanks for reminding me!

Do you have any pics you'd like to share?

Amanda

Amanda thanks for the info. I will need to get some more rubble then. So you my the premade filters but remove the carbon and use the Kent stuff? Would it be possible to buy a small media bag and then the kent stuff in bulk, or some other activated carbon? i plan on sticking my micro filter in next week as the cycle I think is rolling down. I started a thread over here http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=550069

When you buy the filters in bulk, the carbon is not already in the filter bag, you have to add it, so there is nothing to empty out, I just pour the Kent's in instead of the Whisper carbon.
