Paramater settings for Schuran Jetstream 1 Calciumreaktor
Could someone please help us in determining the paramaters for the calciumreaktor such as when we should have our Neptune Aqua Controller 3 turn on the Schuran Jetstream 1 Calcium Reactor and when to shut off? Should it be ran at night or day time? Any suggestions would be helpful. We are mostly concerned about when to turn off/on according to ph.

Hi there Selina,
If you are using the big Schuran type media, you can set the ph to 6.2 and if the ph falls lower than 6.2 , you can set the controller to turn off the co2. If using such controller, you can run your reactor (depending the types corals you have, ie full of sps and huge clams and such for 24 hrs with no issue. I used to ran my reactor for only 10 hours as it keeps my water parameters right on target. The only draw back running this type of reactors is it will definetly lower your ph because it requires lower ph to dissolve such media....so, I would suggest placing the reactor's effluent next to the skimmer's pump so that the excess co2 could escape or you could make a little chamber with a little pump and air stone..works better in my opinion. Check this thread if you haven't as it helped me a lot during my initial setup of my JS1. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=397189 And To Reef Central by the way! Good luck!
