Cool way to go is to get one of those chillers like Fliger has. Can't remember the name right now. Cooling is 1-1w in/output but heat is 1w input = 2w output = 50% less heating cost . Then run the Won brothers as a back up through the controller. Expensive way to go but you would get more life out of that Won brothers heater

Thanks to those who signed the guestbook! I was happy to see some people i havent seen in a while like nyfireman! Made me smile.
Chad, I had originally wanted the Biomatix, but have yet to see any final release on it. But you guys are right.. I need a separate controller for the heater. Thanks for signing the guestbook, that was funny!! EBOL, im not exactly sure what the name of it is because Aquarium Environments of Houston delivered the tank to my house and they provided all the tools. You are more than welcome to call Jaime at AE. He's a great guy and is always more than helpful with naka and I. |

That tool is called a genie lift. The tank looks great man.. James better watch out! a little bit of rivalry never hurt anyone. what time cycle do you have on the spot light?

You can rent a genie lift from tool rental places for about $50.00 per day. They are rated for 600 lbs maximum (about 400 gallons), but I've pushed them harder.

The newest image is very interesting. In order to understand 100% the 2 spot lights, the colors are the bulbs or just to indicate different spotlights? On a personal note...great now I have to go back through the whole thread because I have not been reading about your light setup. Not that far in my own design process.....I like it though
I have many questions but need to re-read the thread so not to bother you with redundancy Anyway to get the light image a little bigger? I can barely read the light bulb info

The LED 6x2w that you are running for 12hrs. Are they moonlights?
What kind of light controller are you using?

I just spent all day reading through all 49 pages, "AWESOME". Might have to stop and take a closer look!!! I’m in the planning stage of putting together a 72” x 36” x 30” built A.E. aquarium with sump and prop tank.

EBOL, at this time that is the only item missing from the schedule. I dont use a moonlight just yet as I am still deciding on a controller. For now, I just use the Home Depot light controllers until I can get something that wows me.
Rbolton, 49 pages is a lot of reading. It's getting close to book size. If you want more reading, you can read 62 more detailed entries in my journal here: http://invincible569.squarespace.com I would love to see your AE tank also! You are welcome any time. Weekends are the best time for me. Are you going rimless? |

Va, thank you. Which ideas do u plan to use? |

Well I don't know about VA but I'm busy picking away at your fish list up here .
Just wondering if you have done much playing around w/ any T-5 bulbs yet? I know your fixtures still pretty new but I was wondering if any T-5 combos were kind of catching your eye? I'm having a hard time deciding on which way to go w/ mine when I need to replace my bulbs. Chad |

GSM, Thats a good idea about the livestock list. I'll set one up.
Chad, The best T5's that i have used in this tank and my previous are the ATI Blue Plus hands down. I love those bulbs and you can get them from reefgeek.com They make all the blues stand out and wash out any yellow from your tank that your 10k's may emitt. I've been wanting to try the URI Super Actinic's, but havent needed too because I am using the Giesemann Super Actinic's as they came with the fixture. Are you looking for supplementation (color enhance) or for a more white look? |

|
|||
|
|||
I really don't know exactly what I want to do. I'm kind of thinking I may try the URI actinic in combination w/ some AS 15k bulbs. Not sure what they call it, and then go w/ a 14k or maybe even the 20k Helios MH's. I have plenty of power w/ the 3-400w MH's on IC's and then I have the 8-39w T-5's in the fixture and I really can't raise the fixture much w/o having alot of light spilling out. My fixture is about 9-10"s off the top of the tank.

Since you have 400w's, why dont you try it backwards and go with Radiums for the MH's and 10k's for the T5's? If I had a 400w fixture, the Radiums would of been my first choice. I have seen a tank with Radiums and the colors are unbelievable. Looks like Japanese tanks when the corals are all colored up. Or Maybe try a Radium in the middle to see if you like i first. Then you could choose your T5's since those are just supplementation (should be last pick).
