have any one ever used or know someone that use this system for breeding or raiseing clowns

and how good are they

I've used them in LFS. They are not a bad system, but can stand some tweaking. For myself, if I was offered one dirt cheap I would use it and do a few simple upgrades. If looking at new, I'd just build my own system from scratch

I'll second what Bill says. We have a few units from when our Wal*Mart upgraded and sold the old ones (cheap).

With some small changes, they can be good systems (we had clowns in them, some spawning). I do like the prefilter/biowheel setup, but the sump is too small (for instance...). For breeding and raising clowns, you would probably be better-off building your own system that would best suit your space/needs, etc. If it's any indication of how we like ours, we're giving them away free to a LFS and building a new system in its place
