How do I get a carpet anemone OUT of my tank?
My carpet anemone has GOTTA go! It killed my Naso last night! How do I get it out? Its "glued" to the bottom of my tank.

Sorry man that has to suck! Any idea how he caught him? I'm curious how carpets seem to catch so many fish? I've seen video of them feeding but never actually catching.

i've heard icing the foot works a lot of times (as long as you don't find this too cruel for your killer-carpet)

careful with the powerhead trick.. you can turn up your whole sand bed and cause a spike in your water levels. id try the icecube trick

you can also slowly massage the foot off the glass with your fingers.. if you can get just a little something underneath, you can slowly get a little more detatched at a time.. it might take you up to 15 minutes or so, if you want to be careful.

Yes, I do want to be careful.....its not his fault after all that I made a poor livestock choice for my tank. He definitely didn't CHOOSE to come home with me. I am trying to find him a good home.
I guess I'll get out the mask and snorkle and work on this one.....he's in a 110 Tall so reaching the bottom glass is a little difficult!

If it is glued to the bottom of the tank how are you going to get it off?
Also, do you glue the anemone to the bottom of the tank and then put the sand around it? Sorry for the stupid questions but I am new to reefs and just trying to expand my knowledge as much as possible. |

Try applying the icecube from under the tank if you can, should get him the let go then you can just reach in and snatch him out.
