Jack Frost is here

Be careful everybody. Jack Frost is doing his nasty business to us all right now. The roads are getting bad, hope you all are done going out for the night. I have to make a trip to pick up the wife from work in this crud.

We got bit too!
We went without power for 40+ hrs. Luckily, we have a couple small generators to keep the furnace running, the tank, and the well to pump water to the livestock in the barn. Problem is that they do not kick as much power as you get normally. So, we muddled thorugh.

The tank got down to 65 degress. BRRRRRRRRR!! I was shocked to see that the 4 fish all survived and the few corals I have are opening up this morning. Well, the leather has not decided to put its polpys out yet. But I think it looks OK.

This shows me that a swing upwards in temp is MUCH more dangerous to fish/corals than a swing down.

Good luck to everyone else out there!!

Audrey

My folks will be without power for over a week. Good thing they have a 5k watt generator to tide them over till power gets restored.

Wow! Forget the tanks, I hope the people are holding up well. I feel really grateful now. Our power was out for a few minutes the night of the storm and that's it. Rantoul barely got hit and the roads were mostly clear the next morning. I hope everyone is able to get their power back soon.

Well my power finally came back about 1/2 hour ago and it sure was a PITA keeping the generator going since 1900 Thursday night, so almost 5+ days without power.
My generator that I bought just for this, a few years ago, doesn't generate, so luckily my friend had one I could borrow. Otherwise the tank would have been lost, it did get down to 75 degrees before I could get the generator up and running, so everything looks OK for now.
