Lighting forum

Since lighting seems to be such a huge topic and source of questions, have you ever thought about breaking down the 'Lighting, Filtration and other equipment' forum into a separate "Lighting" forum and "Other Equpment" forum?

just curious.

We've considered it, but decided that the various "equipment" aspects of our hobby should be kept together, since they work together to produce the whole.

Additionally, we have a ton of forums as it is, and useable info tends to get lost as we expand the number of forums. If we had a lighting (only) forum, others could justify having a skimmer forum and a calcium reactor forum. We could also sub-divide the lighting forum into VHO, T-5, PC, MH and LED sections.

We've also had requests for coral forum specific sub-forums - a lighting forum for zoanthids, a lighting forum for SPS, a lighting forum for LPS.. since every type of coral has different requirements.

So, perhaps you can see where this is going. We could end up with a hundred forums (and that's not counting the club forums), and no one would be able to find anything, or know where to post their "specific" question, and most importantly, there would be no "sharing" of info. Because I don't know about you, but I learn a lot reading other folks' threads on subjects I probably wouldn't see if we separated everyone into their "niche" corners.

FWIW,
Kevin
