interesting observation about xenia and it's pulsing
From everythign I've read and everyone I've talked to, it seems that no one really knows why xenia sometimes pulses but other times doesn't.
So with that said, I find this to be very interesting. I had been running 54w of PCs over my 12g tank (27w actinic, 27w 10k) and my xenia rarely pulsed (though grew very well). Today I upgraded to a 70w Ushio halide (14k) and within 10 minutes of the halide being on the xenia were pulsing. It'll be interesting to see if it lasts.

Xeniids definitely pulse more vigorouslyt under brighter light but there as yet no consistent theories about why they expend valuable energy to pulse. It is not a feeding response since they have no digestive capability. its just a very cool mystery and mesmerizing to watch.

I noticed the same thing about the flow. Also I noticed if my calcium is low it stops pulsing...
