50w Halogen track lights, can i use them?

I was at Home Depot tonight and saw a 50 w Halogen track lighting set up with three lights.....can I use this as extra lights....Is there a negative to these lights?

I would'nt use them. Halogen lights are known for being "Heat Factories" and they produce very yellow (<5000K) light.

This is funny someone was asking me this same question today, I didn’t think you could use them but they were saying you can get different types of bulbs for them…..wonder if this is true?

no don't be cheap, your in the hobby to spend money(if your not well nevermind) spend it on a nice MH setup.

Sure, you'll need 4x as many watts of Halogens vs MH or T5 due to efficiency reasons. Enjoy the massive space heater and electric bill

I already have the Aquactinics TX5....great light.......I was only thinking one or two to try to get the shimmer effect....Just saw them on the shelf and thought they might work....I am very glad i asked no halogen for me Reef Central rocks!!.....oh by the way 121a Aquactinics is not cheap..lol.
