GEO Calcium Reactor users!

I am at my wits end trying to solve my leaking Eheim 1048 that came with my GEO 618.

The first intake I cracked because I overtightened. I orderd a new intake (pump cover) and used teflon tape and carefully made sure it was not overtightened. Still leaking.

I then used teflon "pipe dope" as i was told this is better than the tape. Leak free for two days and now still leaking?

What the heck is going on? I ahve plumbed a lot of fittings and piping for years and never expereinced anything like this? Do you think I just have another bad pump cover??

It could be the o-ring not sealing tight. Apply some silicon lubricant on it and it should do the trick.

Its not leaking at the O-ring. Its leaking at the threaded part where you screw in the 90 degree elbow (suction side)

CSS Reef, I would try try some silicone on the elbow fitting & let it dry. That has to stop the leak.

tikalize, I did that! Slow leak still. I am going to glue the _____ down with PVC glue! And worry about it later.

Wow.... & it still leaked? & its not leaking from the O-ring on the volute/intake? Are you sure that it isn't cracked like the last one? I would have thought that when you put the silicone on the fitting it would have sealed the threads. I know you probably checked, just trying to help. Well, just PVC glue it. What is the worst that can happen. If the pump goes bad down the line you will have to purchase a whole pump anyway. Its not like you are making any permanent repairs to the reactor itself.

Maybe there was a microcrack that I can't physically see. I figure if I glue it down the pump cover/o-ring assembly it comes off so I wont have to replace the entire pump.

chadfarmer, thanks, I looked online for a 90 degree 3/8" MPT X 1/2" Barb online. Hard to find.
