Next bulb, Giesemann 14.5K?

I am stuck on which bulb to get.
What does everyone think of the 14.5 MegaChrome?

I have 2 blue+ and 2 superactinics for suppliments.

I just want great color, growth can be slow.

Thanks for the help,
Bill

Well not running that bulb, but I am running the Megachrome Coral ,day 2, it is a 13k, very slight yellow tinge, I think you would be happy with the 14.5. I like the look with 2 superactinics, and 2 50/50 bulbs that I am running now. And the corals really perked up already, I was running the phoenix before and growth was very poor. This is the 4th DE I have tried and my favorite so far.

I use it on my SPS tank. Good growth, nice color.

neelix, I wonder if the yellow tinge will be gone soon. I have the 12K Megachrome and it doesn't seem to have a yellow tinge. I might like the 13K.
Could you give me an update in a week or so?

snorvich, thanks for the input. Are you running any suppliments with it?

I have them on my 180. They give good color and growth.

I use the Giesemann Coral alone, it is BRIGHT, and a nice purpley-white after it burns in. No actinics needed for me.

The usual burn in time 100 hours?

Just curious since I already like it and if it becomes a bit more blue it will be fantastic!

That sounds about right. BTW the Megachrome Coral is Giesemann's 14.5K bulb.

My favorite bulb so far and I prefer them much more than Phoenix which washes a lot of colors out IME.

I have a Maristar fixture and also dont feel that they need supplementing with actinics so I run them with a Blue+ and an AquaSun which gives my tank more light. I have mostly SPS and clams so try to maximize the PAR, not that these bulbs are weak by any means. I run the G-man on an SLS Bluewave III HQI ballast and feel they are the perfect color for me. YMMV.

I have been running these 14.5 on the ends of my 180 for about 6 months now with aqua medic fixtures. I have tried the 12 & 13 and IMO the 14.5 are better but thinking of going Phoenix next time for more blue. In the center I run dual 400 and tried my first radium today and like it.

does anyone run the 150W version of this bulb, and if so, are the opinions and results the same as the 250?

I figure the 150 should be the same as the 250.
Or could I be wrong?

Going to the Phoenix is a downgrade IMO.

Thanks fisheebill, but can you please post a pic of how it, MH only, looks lighting the tank. Hard to get a feel for the bulb with a picture of the fixture and lamp.
