Test Kits

I was wondering what test kits most people use. I have a kit that my neighbor gave me when I got my tank. It has drops and color cards. Are there test kits that are more accurate yet do not require a degree in chemistry to use?

I use both Saliferst and Fastest, both are very accurate and easy to use once you get the hang of them.

I also like Salifert for ease of use and accuracy. Find a kit that works for you and stick with it. The more you use it, the more proficient you'll become while gaining confidence in its results.

Salifert are good tests for Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, Nitrate, and Phosphate.

For salinity, get a refractometer. Any brand is fine.

For pH, get a pH meter.. Pinpoint pH meters are nice.

For ammonia and nitrite, I'd go for Seachem. There is no point in spending lots of money on Salifert tests, IMO, when you are only going to use them during your cycle.
