I think the hearts would be better in a taco/burrito.

Actualy7 when I was breeding angels, discus and african cichlids I did use beef hearts as a part of the regular diet. Is all you need to do is run it through a blender and then freeze it. I also tried beef livers once as it was highly recommended in old books but that turned into one big mess do to all the blood in the liver.

Now in salt water I have never heard of this being done.

That brings back memories of the "Bass-O-Matic".

The very first time I was ever allowed to watch SNL I learned about the Bass-O-Matic!

I wouldn't suggest it... The beneficial nutritional value for most marine organisms could be low. For one, marine lipids are going to be quite different from those from a cow. Simply put, most marine fats are going to be unsaturated, those from a cow will be saturated. Even if there are some great benefits is it really worth risking using something we don't know much about just to save some money? The feeding Discus beef heart thing most likely started in the first place as a cheaper and safer alternative to tubifex and bloodworms.

In short, stick with something that's closer to a natural food source.
