As a reef tank I would thing it wouldnt as you would a problem getting the water flow the corals need in all 3 sections.
As a FOWLR I wouldnt see why not. |

I agree it would be hard getting the flow to the corals but you could use it for fish with shrimp, crabs snail etc.

Definantly take advantage of that structure somehow. Use it well. With a tank like that you can do both.

After having both - fish and corals, I would vote for fishless tank - less toubles, much easier.
You can make low flow, actinic light section and fill it with tube anemones, different colors - only they become trice larger, then you see in store. Opposite section could be high flow, high light - for whatever you like. Fire shrimp looks nice in the middle. Fish in this tank will look good, but, personally, I deeply regret having even the best fish - too much troubles. |

I think it would be an outstanding reef tank. You could have a different habitat in each section, maybe LPS/SPS in one, soft corals in left and macro-algae in the middle. Or, any other combination you could think of. I'd personally love to do something like that. Please keep us updated!

Wow, that is cool! My first reef tank was a double tube tank and it was really pretty. I've never seen the triple. I'd do a reef tank with fish of course. It's fun watching them swim through the tubes.
I'll find an old photo from 2002 and upload it. Joyce |

I would never use a tank like that as a display. There are so many surfaces that you will never be able to keep clean, that it will just turn into a nasty algae mess. I think it will look terrible over time. I might try to modify it so that it would be usable as a sump or holding tank, but otherwise I would toss it.

I don't see why you couldn't do a loop w/ either a top manifold or locklines feeding each section, and maybe even a tunze nano stream in each.
6 side panels to clean instead of 2, but not a big. Cleaning tubes could be fun. Choice on what to do is totally up to you. It's nice to see different stuff out there.

i second putting pumps in those tubes somehow =)
could create an internal loop have all the top pumps facing one way and the bottoms the other way... =) |

A reef tank would be cool. With small fish. Just get a lot of snails to help you out on the cleaning. It would be sweet and very unique.

As far as cleaning the tubes out, just wait until they get gunked up, and wrap a black trash bag over them for a few days to kill off all the algae.
That is a really unique tank and I would love to see it used well.

Actually you could put certain species in each chamber
1st Chamber - SPS 2nd Chamber - LPS 3rd Chamber Softies And add some fish so they can swim in and out of each chamber |
